Alloimmune thrombocytopenia

Alloimmune thrombocytopenia is a blleding disorder of the newborn that results from maternal allo-antibodies against fetal platelets. The reason for these allo-antibodies is the fetus bears a platelet antigen inherited from its father for which the mother did not develop immuno-tolerance.
