Anemia

Anaemia is a pathologic condition in which red blood cells (erythrocytes) and/or haemoglobin is reduced in the blood.

Classification

Microcytic, macrocytic and normocytic forms of anemia can be distinguished. In microcytosis, the hemoglobin ist more reduced than red cell count. In macrocytosis this relation is reversed. Therefore results small and big red blood cells, respectively. The reduction is proportional in normocytosis.

Diseases

Disorders of cobalamin metabolism
