Acidosis
Acidosis is understood as an acid base disturbance with an initial decrease in blood pH. If this unsettling situation remains, the organism employs internal mechanisms to counteract, and although the pH might become normal again, the shift caused in the buffer system is still measurable.
Pathogenesis
Acidosis may be cause by pulmonary insufficiency - respiratory acidosis or the inability of bicoabonate production - metabolic acidosis.
Classification
In addition to the pathogenetic classification metabolic and respiratory forms of acidosis may further be compensated or not.
