Classification
A short stature can be divided into those with proportional growth retardtion of all limbs and types with dysproportional shortening or deformity. The latter can be further divided rhizomelic, mesomelic and acromelic
Rhizomelia
Rhizomelia is defined as dysproportion or deformity of the proximal limb that is shoulder and arm as well as hip and thigh.
Mesomelia
Mesomelia is defined as dysproportion or deformity of the middle limb that is forearm and leg.
Acromelia
Acromelia is defined as dysproportion or deformity of the distal limb that is hand and foot.
