Die Makuladegeneration ist eine erbliche Augenerkrankung die die Macula lutea des Auges betrifft und zur Erblindung führt.
Klinisch werden senile und früheinsetzende Formen sowie feuchte und trockene Makuladegenerationunterschieden.
Die genetische Diagnostik erlaubt eine pathogenetische Differenzierung entsprechend der zugrundeliegenden Mutationen.
