Das vom DCDC2-Gen kodierte Protein ist für die Organisation der Mikrotubuli verantwortlich und bei der Signaltransduktion im primären Cilium beteiligt. Mutationen sind für neuronale Entwicklungsstörungen, wie die Dyslexie und die autosomal rezessive Ciliopathie, Nephronophthiese 19 verantwortlich.
