Das KIAA0586-Gen kodiert ein mikrosomales Protein welches an der Ziliogenese beteiligt ist und auf Hedgehog-Signale reagiert. Mutationen sind für autosomal rezessive Erkrankungen wie Joubert-Syndrom 23 und SRTD-Syndrom 14 verantwortlich.
