KIRREL1-Protein
Das KIRREL1-Gen kodiert ein Protein, welches auch als NEPH1 bezeichnet und in die Gruppe der Nephrin-like Proteine eingeordnet wird, die in ihrem cytoplsmatischen Anteil mit den C-terminalen Ende des Podocin interagieren. Mutationen sind für das autosomal rezessive nephrotische Syndrom vom Typ 23 verantwortlich.
