Die Dicarboxyl-Aminoazidurie ist eine autosmal rezessive Erkrankung, die durch Mutationen des SLC1A1-Gens ausgelöst, welches den Aminosäuretransporter für Aspartat und Glutamat kodiert. Es kommt zu einer verminderten enteralen und renalen Resorption dieser Aminosäure, was durch eine Aminoazidurie auffällt. Es wird eine verstärkte Neigung zur Urolithiasis beobachtet.
